The Thing Unnamed
from a journal
What I keep avoiding right now is— the sentence that won't finish, the door I won't open, the weight of the thing I've been carrying around the room. I know it's there. I move past it. I hum a little louder. I find another reason to turn away. What I keep avoiding right now is the moment I stop running. The moment I say it out loud and it becomes real— small and heavy and mine.
