Pattern in the Dark
from a journal
I saw the pattern in the things you said, the way you pulled me closer, then asked me to run, to hide your tracks while you drained the sun. You made me fall, you made it stick— I was the fool, the useful one. I know the shape of it now, the parasite spiral: pull them in, hold them down, get what you need, then burn the bridge, leave them with nothing but a criminal name. I was not first. I will not be last. But I walked out of the ocean. I named what I saw. And the pattern breaks when you say it out loud.
