Outcome measures move; the proposed mechanism does not hold up. A meta-analysis finds a medium effect on anxiety, pain and cognition, while a systematic review finds the brainwave-entrainment explanation unsupported more often than not.

Studies are listed against the method as well as the frequency, because the published work is about techniques like binaural beats — not about the individual numbers. A preset can honestly have no research of its own while the method it uses has plenty.
